From Seed to Cigar

How a BIN Cigar Is Made

Every premium cigar is born of a long journey of precision, patience and handcraft. From the nursery to the final box, every stage builds the flavour, aroma, character and quality that make a BIN cigar.

Nursery
01
Stage One

Nursery

The journey of the tobacco begins with the selection of quality seed, sown and tended with great care in the nursery. Every seedling is watched over until it grows healthy and strong, ready to be moved out to the planting field.

Plantation
02
Stage Two

Plantation

The seedlings are planted out in fields whose soil and climate suit them. Through the growing season the plants are tended intensively so that they yield leaves of the finest quality and character.

Harvesting
03
Stage Three

Harvesting

The tobacco leaves are picked in stages, each according to its own ripeness. The work is done with precision so that every leaf carries optimal colour, texture, aroma and quality.

Curing
04
Stage Four

Curing

The harvested leaves are hung inside the curing barn. Through a natural, controlled process their moisture falls away slowly — and with it the colour, the aroma and the base character of the tobacco take shape.

Fermentation
05
Stage Five

Fermentation

The tobacco is fermented under controlled temperature and humidity. This stage tempers the sharpness of the taste, refines the aroma and draws out a richer, smoother character of flavour.

Sorting
06
Stage Six

Sorting

Every leaf is inspected and grouped by size, colour, texture, elasticity, strength and quality. The sorting decides each leaf's role in the cigar — as filler, as binder or as wrapper.

Bunching
07
Stage Seven

Bunching

Selected leaves are arranged in a set composition to form the filler at the heart of the cigar. Every combination is designed to balance flavour, aroma, strength and the way the cigar burns.

Binding
08
Stage Eight

Binding

The arranged filler is then wrapped in a binder leaf. This process builds the structure of the cigar — firm, neat, stable and with a clean draw of air.

Wrapping
09
Stage Nine

Wrapping

A high-grade wrapper leaf is applied by hand to the outer layer of the cigar. The care taken at this stage gives a smooth surface, a precise shape and an elegant finish.

Packaging
10
Stage Ten

Packaging

After quality inspection, the cigars are rested and packed with care. Proper packaging preserves the humidity, aroma, flavour and quality of the cigar all the way to the connoisseur.
